Cynthia Kupper, RD, CD and CEO of the Gluten Intolerance Group

Cynthia Kupper worked as a clinical dietitian for 15 years in a hospital in Washington, specializing in diabetes education. Ms. Kupper became the hospital expert on celiac disease. She worked as a volunteer for the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) leading local support groups and assisting GIG’s founder at medical and nutrition education conferences. She became the CEO of the Gluten Intolerance Group in 1996. While leading GIG, she launched a vision of expanded social services and food safety programs with international recognition. Ms. Kupper has been an invited expert speaker for the FDA and National Institutes of Health. She has worked with national support organizations, government agencies, researchers, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to increase awareness of celiac disease, gluten sensitives, and the gluten-free diet. She published a continuing education manual for dietitians on GI Disorders and has authored articles on the gluten-free diet, and co-authored research on gluten-free food safety. Ms. Kupper understands well gluten-free consumers and the food industry, being a consumer herself and having successfully launched gluten-free food safety programs.
